On April 14th, 1975, Wallingford Rowing Club and Wallingford School rowed in with treble success at the Abingdon Head of the River. In the schools coxed fours, the combined John Mason/Gryphon boat won the under 15 class, finishing in a very fast time of 10 minutes and 38 seconds. Wallingford I, comprising J. Wiggins (bow), S. Wroe, K. Cusack, C. Purchase, and A. Betts (cox), were convincing winners of the Elite club fours, and also finished overall leaders in 10 minutes and 38 seconds. Wallingford II then captured the senior C division. Other entries came from as far afield as Durham, Herne Bay, and Llandaff. WALLINGFORD ROWING Club and Wallingford School won three events between them at the Abingdon Head of the River on Saturday. There was an upset in the sculls, where Mike Harlow, of Maidenhead, finished ahead of Abingdon’s Ian Marriott in 11 min 49.5 sec, although Mar- riott took the Elite class.
